no way he gets 10 unless he waits until this year is over (and has a monster year). He is a good player, no doubt, but can in no way justify deserving that much.

Need to think about it as a % of the total cap when signed. Still don't think jorts is worth what crosby/mcd signed for but 9 mln would not be aggregious...

I dont watch a lot of sabre games.I saw maybe 7 or 8 of them.Eichel seems to be missing that little something that makes special players special.10 mil for him is too much.He isnt close to mcdavid or crosby.7 million is where he should be.Its good your not the gm of the sabres.lol

Awesome. He can lose more shootouts than literally anyone. Also the timely soft goal benefits the rest of the division..

10 million a season... You're high. He hasnt scored more than than 24 goals and 57 points. Granted he had a better pace but was hurt. But 4 players make over 10 Mill Kane, Toews, Kopitar, and soon to be McDavid. Eichel is not on McDavid's level, we've been told that from day one, the other 3 got their big pay day in their third contract, AFTER all three of them had won 2 cups. Jack should get around 6.5 to 7.5 realistically.

Sure he is.
Which one just scored 40 goals in their rookie season? Won the calder and beat the team record for goals and points by a rookie? First player to score 4 goals in very first nhl game (in modern era)? Not Eichel.

Eichel is a great young player, but so is Matthews.

I sure hope Eichel gets less than 10m, hopefully around 6-7, since his salary could be a bit of a benchmark for Matthews eventually. If he's looking at comparable players, Eichel is somewhat similar in skill and age.

Kopitar and Toews got $10 million on their 3rd contracts, coming off their 2nd contract, not their 2nd coming off their entry level. By the time they signed their 3rd contracts, both had the hardware to demand those numbers. For their 2nd contract both signed in the 6-7 million range. Both had similar stats to Jack after 2 years, Toews already had a cup by then.

Even with the inflation of the cap, I can't see how Jack can ask for more then 7.5 million.

Crosby is worth the max, he took a major pay cut. Is Malkin $800K per year better than Sid? I think not, yet he's paid it.

$10M is crazy, so is $13.25M for McDavid.
